Doodle-head Quilts!

It probably goes without saying, but I love to create quilts. Because it takes longer to make a quilt than to complete some other projects, I don't usually update this part of the site as often as the other sections. I am usually working on at least one or more quilting projects though!

Updates 2010

  • September 5: I finished the red and black bullseye quilt today!
  • August 17: The red and black bullseye quilt is nearly finished, just the binding to make and attach.
  • July 24: I've started a new quilt, a red and black bullseye design.
  • May 15: I stitched the binding to my SSS 2009 Block of the Month quilt, and it is finished!
  • April 2: My Bamboo quilt is finished! I finally stitched the binding on, and it's on my bed at the moment. I've also added some photos for the quilting I've been doing on the Quilter's Palette quilt (bottom of page).
  • March 15: Halfway through March, February's block for Country Baskets is complete.
  • February 16: Pinwheels quilt is bound and ready to go to her new owner. Now I'm working on binding Bamboo.
  • February 13: Bamboo, Pinwheels, and SSS 2009 are back from the quilter's (Pam Thorne) and are beautiful. I'm now sewing on the binding for Pinwheels.
  • February 6: The January block for Country Baskets is finished and hanging - now to get moving on February! :)
  • January 31: This weekend (once again snowed in), I started my block of the month quilt for 2010, Country Baskets. I didn't get January's block completed, but it is pieced and I did get the wallhanging border / frame piece done (except for the sleeve).
  • January 24: On Friday afternoon (January 22) I started piecing my Figgy Pudding Charm Bracelet quilt, and on Sunday afternoon I finished piecing it.
  • January 20: I created the backings for 3 quilts and took them to my LQS to have Pam quilt them.
  • January 11: The Pinwheels quilt top (see bottom of page) is finished, so now to figure out backing fabric for 3 quilts!
  • January 10: The SSS 2009 quilt top is completely pieced! Now to figure out backing fabrics for 2 quilts!
  • January 9: With snow on the ground, I wasn't one to venture out today - it was a great day to work on quilts! I finished the Bamboo quilt top and am about halfway finished putting the SSS 2009 quilt top together!

A Little Bit of History

While I was experimenting with polymer clay designs in 1995, a friend commented that some of the designs were very much like patchwork. She loaned me several magazines for inspiration, and my love affair with quilts and quilting was born. I attended the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah that year with a friend, and by the end of the year had finished my very first quilt - a baby quilt for my niece, rail fence design.

Check out this quilt and some of the other quilts I have made since then in my Finished Quilts section - they are listed in reverse order in which I made them.
